Holiday Weekend Here in the US!

It's a holiday weekend here in the US!  Labor Day weekend is kind of the official end of summer and the beginning of fall...which I LOVE!!  So, I almost forgot to post today since I was just relaxing and hanging out!

First of all, don't forget we still have the card drive for Olivia going on!  You can find all the details   HERE

First up we have Liz Qualman!  She created several things for our CHA booth and I totally forgot to show them last month!  So here we go!

The first two layouts are with School is Cool!  And I think her daughter is quite the camera ham!!!  Love these looks on her face!

Next up is a My Lil Monster layout.  And I do believe that is an Elvis shirt on that boy!

And last from Liz is a Get Well Soon layout.  We had this layout out during Nikki Sivils Day at Scrapbook Generation and everyone thought it was so cute!

Next up we have Jill Hildebrand with an artsy My Lil Monster layout.  She included some close up, detail shots of her layout too.  (thanks Jill, love detail shots!)

And last I have a card.  I used the School is Cool papers along with one of the Nikki Sivils/Unity Stamp Co. co-branded Itty Bitty Stamp sets that coordinates with all our collections this time around!

Well, that is it from me today!!  It is MUCH cooler here and I think I am going to open up the windows and let the breeze blow thru.  Although, my scrappy papers might go everywhere!  Happy Labor Day weekend!

Have a Scrappy Kinda Day!!~~Katrina

It's a Boo-tiful Monday!

It's a Boo-tiful Monday here at Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker and I have some really fun projects to share in getting ready for one of my very favorite holidays: Halloween.  I think I have more fun scrapbooking photos for this festive celebration than any other holiday.  How can you not love black, orange, purple and green all mixed up together???  I'm getting a little giddy anticipating the end of this month and another year of photos.  What are your super cute little stinkers going to be this year?
Aren't these Boo-tiful papers and embellishments so much fun???  I love the bright colors mixed with the distressing and the ghosts are pretty darn cute, if I do say so myself.   Perfect for my little spooky girl.  She loves this holiday as much as I do and still insists on wearing her costumes all year round.
I mixed one of Nikki's cute little Craft Flags in with the ghosts and added the sentiment, "Boo!"  I also inked the edges with some chalk ink to make the white flag stand out more against the spooky white ghost.  Then I tied on a little polka dot bow for some added fun.
Nikki's Burlap Buttons make the perfect finishing touch by adding a little interest and texture to the layout.  The thing I love most about these, is you just stick the little suckers right onto the project.  No sewing necessary and no need to add adhesive.  I also used my Cricut to cut this shape in the striped paper to break up the squareness of the layout and then used the shadow feature to cut the black mat.
Nikki adds so many cute embellishments right into her papers.  I used a 1 1/2 inch circle punch to pull this pumpkin out of one of the papers.  Then I inked the edges and pop-dotted it to make it stand out more.
This card completely cracks me up!  I used one of the chipboard ghosts from Nikki's awesome Ghost Mini album that is currently being featured in this month's Creating Keepsake Magazine (see below).  I am a big fan of Nikki's 6x6 patterned papers and this striped paper is the perfect background for this spooky little guy.  I cut the sign from the embellishment page in Nikki's Boo-tiful papers and added the sentiment with some of her sticker letters from the Tree Love Collection.
Can you see it in the Number 1 spot???  We are all very excited about being featured, especially since we know how much fun Nikki's Chipboard Mini Albums are.  Make sure you check out the others HERE.
I'll close it out with one more card.  I can't seem to get enough of these frightening little ghosts, so I had to add them to the bottom of this card along with a big "Boo" sentiment which I cut with my Cricut using more of the 6x6 Boo-tiful patterned papers.  Hope you all have as much fun creating this month as I am...and don't forget to grab some of Nikki's Boo-tiful collection before it is all gone :)

Thank you so much for stopping by - Liz

Summer Ends, Fall Begins...

Happy Monday everyone!  We are in the midst of winding down a beautiful summer here in Colorado.  Even though the days are still warm, the nights are slowly getting cooler, which means Fall is on its way here in the Rocky Mountains.  To celebrate this gorgeous time of year, I thought I would share a few of my projects with Nikki's gorgeous Tree Love collection.  Being a bit of a nature girl, I'd have to say that this is one of my very favorites and Nikki's fun beaver motif is about the cutest thing ever and so much fun to scrap with.

First Up...

I love these photos of my son from our camping trip over the summer.  It was a rainy day and he is wearing a circa 1970's raincoat that used to belong to his dad.  It was the perfect match for the gorgeous papers.  I love to mix Nikki's 6x6 card papers with the larger 12x12 patterns to create a variety of colors, textures and sizes.
I used Nikki's gorgeous green paper, my Cricut and a cartridge called Feeling Groovy to make the title of my layout.  I just thought my son looked so pensive in the photo that the title had to be something about his thinking.  The shadow feature on the Cricut is such a great thing to back the letters and add depth.  I pop dotted some of the letters to make them stand out a bit more.
Can you see the Lorax reference?  I just love the little beaver character and how much fun it is to add to a project.  Nikki's craft flags made the perfect protest sign for the little guy.

Next...
For my second project, I wanted to stick with the same theme.  I added a little red spray mist to warm up the color palette and to add interest to the layout.  I also used some of Nikki's awesome sticker letters along with a larger foam alphabet for the title and stuck one of her burlap buttons to finish it off.
You can see the misting in this photo and how well the sticker letters look with the larger black foam letters.  I also love her sticker journal tags and used a black gel pen to write on it.
The burlap buttons make a a great embellishment anywhere you want to arrange them.  I used these to finish of the squared look I had created with the 6x6 patterned paper.  Aren't they adorable???

Finally...
This card is meant to be a little silly with a pun on words in the sentiment, "You Should Beaver," oops I mean "Be there."  Since I love all the trees in this collection, I used my Cricut Give a Hoot cartridge to create the tree and bird on the card, then added the little beaver to finish off the look.

Hope you can feel the cool, crisp air and smokey leaves of the Rocky Mountains.

Thank you so much for stopping by -
