Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker and Ribbon Carousel Blog Hop

Is hopping with Ribbon Carousel today!

We usually do not "hop" just swap, so it's a little different for us today!  All of our designers have some fun projects for you to see along the way.  And I am sure those Ribbon Carousel girls have some great projects also.

There are some prizes involved so be sure to comment on everyone's blog postings to be eligible.  We have an InLinkz at the end of the post to make it easier for you to hop along with us.

Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker will be giving away a collection kit of the winner's choosing and Ribbon Carousel will be giving away a $25.00 gift certificate to the Ribbon Carousel Store!  Winners will be announced on Saturday night at 8:00 PM Eastern time.  So you have a couple of days to get thru everyone's blog and comment to be eligible to win.

We are so excited because Nikki got to play along with us this time.  She made an adorable matchbook mini album out of the Exit Here collection.  This a perfect way to make a mini without having a chipboard album.  (Maybe we can get her to do a tutorial on here?!)

The ribbon package that we received to work with went perfect with Exit Here.

How cute!  Now, if I can just find the time to make all these projects I want to make.  Could someone please find it for me, because I cannot seem to!

Ok, the InLinkz is below.  Make sure to hop and comment on everyone's blogs and projects.  We will announce the winners on Saturday.  Thanks for stopping by today!

ABC Book Tutorial with Sarah

Sarah Eclavea is here on the blog today.  She is a teacher by profession and she came up with a fun idea on how to help your kids with their spelling! Bonus, she made a tutorial for you!!

Hi everyone! It's back to school time so I decided to make a little book with the School is Cool collection to help my daughter with her spelling. It's very easy to make and can be made easier or more difficult depepending on the age and skills of the student it is for.

You will need the following to make this book- 26 8x5 index cards, 6 ring clips, one sheet 12 x 12 paper.

Step 1- Trim the cardstock to two sheets of 8 x 5 (one for front cover and one for back cover)

Step 2- Decorate the front cover with the "School is Cool" papers and punch outs.

Step 3- Trim each index card into three pieces of 2.7 inches each

Step 4- Write the alphabet (one letter per card) on each index card set.

Step 5- Punch holes through front cover, back cover and index cards and secure with ring clips.

Now your book is ready for some spelling! Just flip the pages to spell out lots of three letter words.

To make the book easier you can do only two sets of cards with pictures on one set and the letter is starts with on the other. Or to make it harder you can use four or five sets of cards. There's lots of possibilities with this!

The last project I have for you today is a card for my daughter's teacher that holds a gift card.

It is a 4x4 inch card which is the perfect little size for a gift card. I used two glue dots to hold the gift on cardstock. They come off easily when removing the gift card from the card.

Have a great school year everyone!

Well, I think I see a couple of projects that would be fun to make AND to give! That little book you could give to a teacher for her to use in her class and I am sure that teacher probably needs a gift card for something!

Thanks for stopping by today and be sure to visit Sarah's blog!

The Twinery and Nikki Sivils Blog Swap Day One!

Today is the first day of a two day event with The Twinery.  The Twinery has some of the best, most fun, and colorful baker's twine out there and we are happy to be doing this swap with them.  They were recently featured on the Martha Stewart show also!

Both companies are having giveaways each day also!  So, see the bottom of this post for details on how to win!

Also, be sure to visit the Diva's blogs for additional pictures and projects that may not be posted here!

Our Diva's were sent the Ultimate Sampler pack to play with and they have some up with some fun creations combining Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker products and The Twinery baker's twine.

First up is Diva Melanie Jarocki with an adorable friendship card using the Audrey collection.

I used Peapod and Pink Sorbet twine to stitch around the hearts. For the sentiment border, I used Lemondrop twine. All three of these colors matched the Audrey collection perfectly!

Diva Jodi Wilton is here with her adorable Easter theme layout titled, My Little Bunny.  Jodi used the Exit Here collection for this!  And she also used the Cute As A Button burlap buttons.

I absolutely LOVE working with The Twinery twine, and for this layout I was determined to use a few different techniques with twine on my layout.  I started with the idea of making grass out of twine. I took double sided tape, and looped it up and down at various lengths to create the idea of grass. I then thought of the whiskers on the bunny.  To make the flower center, and bow center. I added double sided adhesive sheet to cardstock, and punched out a small circle. Then I wound the twine, starting in the center of the circle. I trimmed off with my scissors any remaining cardstock showing. I wound twine around the stem (or mini dowel) too!

A close up of that cute bunny and those EGGS!!!  Perfect paper to create striped eggs with!

Next up is Stacy Rodriguez and she has a cute mini book with Exit Here also!  Stacy is doing  double duty as she is also a member of The Twinery design team!  She has additional pictures on her blog, so be sure to check it out!

I simply LOVE this line since we hang out at my parents camper at the lake during the summer time.  Using the North Pole Nights album made this project a breeze.  This mini has room for some of those fun camping photos along with room to journal.  It's held together with 2 jump rings, which I wrapped in Buttercream & Shore twine from The Twinery.  The banner along the top is held together with Cappuccino twine.

I also wanted to make sure I placed the lot number of the camper on the fun little sign.  The Peapod twine was a perfect accent around the bottom of the sign. Helmar 450 quick dry glue is what I used to hold the twine in place.

And here is Jennie McGarvey with an easy layout to create using the Noah collection and The Twinery Baker's Twine.

I created a grid and hand sewed with the twine. I filled in with photos and paper -- plus my favorites, the burlap buttons.  I really wanted to let them speak for themselves, so I added them in blank spaces!

Ms. Julie Tucker-Wolek is our next Diva and she is using the Messages collection.  She made  a "hanging element" on her layout.

So, you want to know what the giveaways are right?!

Here on the Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker blog we are giving away a collection kit each day of this two day blog swap!  Your choice out of the four new collections!

The Twinery will be giving away an Ultimate Sampler pack each day also!  SO.....you
want to know how to win?

Just leave a comment here on the blog and over on The Twinery blog each day and you are entered!  Simple, quick and easy, right?!

We will announce the winners of the collection kits here on the blog on Tuesday April 3rd, so that gives you plenty of time to enter!

Introducing Melanie Jarocki as our last "new" Diva

I have to tell you, I am lucky in the fact I get to see peeks of the projects the Divas are doing and I absolutely cannot WAIT to start showing their work with the new collections.  I think you are going to love them all!

And with that, I am introducing Melanie Jarocki as one of our new Divas.  She has a fun style that is laid back, but with a little spark that catches your attention right off!  And even though I am not showing any, I think you will be seeing some two page layouts from her!  (no pressure there, Melanie!) She also makes some adorable cards!  Let's take a look!

Her projects are all featuring the School is Cool collection and I love how they are all different and unique to each project that she used them on!

A fun little card, which I think is perfect for a grade schooler going into big scary middle school...or someone that is trying for a new promotion at work!

Next up she did a little mini with the collection of pictures of the first day of school through the years!

And last, but not lest, this adorable little memory book!  How cute!

We hope that you loved Melanie's projects, we did when we received them.  We would like to give Melanie a big welcome to the Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker team and we can't wait to see more from her!

Hello everyone, my name is Stacy Rodriguez and i'm super excited to be the Guest Designer here at Nikki Sivils this month.  I am a midwest girl from Illinois, where I have lived my entire life.  I have been with darling hubby for 15 years and seem to love him more everyday.  Together we have a beautiful daughter who keeps us very busy with all of her sports and school activities, which is wonderful because I will never run out of photos to scrap. I love to play angry birds and I am always trying to beat my high score!!!  You will always find a cup of coffee by my side when i'm in my studio creating, I think it helps get my mojo flowing :) I have been scrapbooking for about nine years now and I must say that I was totally hooked from day one!! I don't really have a certain "style" when it comes to scrapbooking, I just go with whatever i'm feeling at the moment. When it comes to scrapbooking i'm a letter junkie!!  I have to have them all....whatever size, shape color....I just have to have them.  I was over the top excited when I found out I was going to GDT here for Nikki.  I LOVE all of her collections and can't wait to share what i've created with you.  Thanks so much to Nikki and all her Diva's for having me here this month!

Stacy worked with the My Lil Monster and You're a Hoot collections.  She has a layout, card and two mini books for us.  Stacy LOVES mini books!!!  Let's see her creations....

First her adorable layout with My Lil Monster..I love all the little elements put together!
