Saying Goodbye to 2009

It's that time of year that we reflect on our achievements, failures, and all the blessings in our lives. I am planning a "welcome party to 2010" for my family in hopes that it is a wonderful year. It is an even-numbered year and that is usually a good sign for me! So, to share the fun of welcoming the new year, I created party poppers for our dinner entertainment... I used Nikki's North Pole Lights collection for the decoration and toilet paper rolls as the base. They are super easy to do and fun for everyone! Here is a peek and a picture tutorial for you to create your own for the big day!
Gather the materials:
Tissue paper (I recycled the Christmas box liners!), ribbon, empty toilet paper rolls, glue or strong ATG tape, Nikki's patterned papers, letters or other embellishments, and small trinkets ir candy.

Step 1: Wrap the roll in tissue paper. You can double it up with 2 colors or just single layer it. I measured mine to be 7" x 14".
Use the double sided tape or a few lines of quick drying glue to hold it on while rolling.

Step 2: Cut papers to add over the tissue paper wrapped roll. Cut a piece 4 1/2" x 5" to wrap around a standard roll of TP. You can also add a strip of ribbon or another pattern over it to embellish.
Step 3: Embellish with letters to spell out the recipient's name or 2010 or whatever you want! I also added some of Nikki's quick cut embellishments too with a glue dot to hold it on.

Step 4: Tie one end of the roll with ribbon to hold it closed and fill with goodies that are small enough to fit. I used Hershey kisses and some small toys and ornaments. Tie the other end closed.
Next up is a layout I did featuring Nikki's North Pole Lights collection. We got an Elf on the Shelf for my oldest son to "keep an eye on him for Santa" and it was fun finding him each day in new locations all over the house. We had to say goodbye to Elfie for this year, but he will be back when we least expect it. I used Nikki's cute elf paper and stamps to create this layout. This was perfect with my theme!
I hope you liked my creations this month and I will be back to share my January artwork at the end of the month! For now, Happy New Year to you all!

XOXO
Jen

Here is my Spring 2010 Sneak Peek...

"Willow Bee" is the paper collection above and "Flaming Butterfly" is the collection below. Willow Bee is all about a Bumble Bee named "Willow" flying around eating the sunflowers. Flaming Butterfly is a design inspired by a crazy pair of pants worn by a professional fisherman that I flew with on one of my teaching destinations! He had on wild black pants with bright fun colors all over. So from those pants Flaming Butterfly came to life. I hope you love these as much as I do! Have a Happy and Safe New Years!! -Nikki

Merry Christmas!

I really hope you are all enjoying Christmas at the moment. So did I! Now Christmas is almost over I had some time to blog.
I had so much fun playing with the U R My Favorite collection. I love the colors and images it has, don't you?
The colors are so sweet I had to play with photos of my girls ofcourse. They wear lot's of pink and purple clothes, so it matched perfectly with the papers.

My first layout is with a photo of Fenna, my youngest daughter. She was just a baby on the picture. I so loved her chubby legs! She has thin legs now, so I'm glad I had the picture. LOL

This layout is also with a photo of Fenna. She loved to wear her sunglasses upside down. I so love this photo!

The last layout I created is with a picture of Amy on the swing with my mother. A sweet photo I think. And....yes...with pink clothes!

Now you all enjoy these papers as much as I did! Can't wait to see your creations!

bye bye,

Ur My Favorite.....and waving goodbye :(

Kat Glossop here - 'tis my first post!! And I'm afraid my last, as I am stepping down from the Design Team :( I've loved my time here with Nikki, she is the absolute sweetest person ever - thank you so much for all you've done for me!! Your creations are gorgeous, and so much fun to work with - *mwah*

Ok, *sniff* *sniff* - onto the good stuff. I've been playing with Nikki's "Ur My Favorite" range. I'd say it's typically a girly range, with yummo pinks and oranges, but the colors in there can definitely be used for some sweet as boy pages...

Isn't that prince froggy stamp the cutest!!? I've used the mini-book as a stencil here.

The orange paper is from the 6 x 6 paddy here.

And a girly page for good measure...

And here I've used the album as a chippie embellishment on the page.

Ok, that's it! Hope you all have a fabulous Chrissie & holidays into the new year :D :D

Again, thanks so much for having me Nikki....xx

4 Days to Christmas!

Hi everyone! I'm Ria Mojica from the Philippines and I will be your blog hostess every 21st of the month. It's 4 days before Christmas and I can't help but be very excited for my favorite season of all!

Here are some Christmas ornaments using the North Pole Nights line. These clear balls are a good way to make use of your paper scraps. Just cut strips of paper about 1/4” wide and roll it around a pencil to make paper swirls.

For added interest, I stamped images from the North Pole Nights Magic Clear stampies on a transparency using solvent ink, colored them in with markers and cut them out before inserting into the balls with the paper.

Here's a LO I made of my daughter “trying” to decorate some Christmas cookies with more of the sprinkles ending up in her mouth.

Here's a Christmas countdown I made a few weeks ago using the Victoria's Street chipboard.

For the last 5 years I've been making cakes for my husband to give away to his office staff. This year's cakes were a bit different since I was inspired by the colors of the North Pole Nights Magic line.

There was some extra batter from the cakes so we made some cupcakes...and found a great way to use left-over scraps.

Well, that's it for today's blog post. I hope I inspired some of you to try Nikki's Christmas line. Here's wishing everyone an advanced Merry Christmas and hope to see you here again next month!

I love Paddies!!!

Noooo, I am not talking about hamburger or krabby patties! I am talking about Nikki Sivils Mini Paddies, like these:

With each one of them (and they come in each collection), you get a great variety of 6X6 papers, perfect for cards, mini albums, tags and other alterable projects as you will see here.
Hello, I am Doghouse Diva, Nathalie Leonelli and I am your host for today. First off, here are a card and tag that I made using the North Pole Nights paddie:

Even that small Christmas tree was cut out from the Mini Paddie!
I also used a lot of the papers from the same paddie to make this Christmas planner that Nikki already shared with you earlier this month:

Then, I was very excited to start playing with the U R My Favorite collection to make these glass coasters. I had purchased them on clearance a while ago (like 2 years!) and Nikki's paddie totally inspired me to finally use them to make a gift for Grandma! I think she is going to love them!

I hope you will give the Mini Paddies a try, with 0 calories, who can resist them!!! :D

Happy Holidays to you all!

We Are Having A Design Team Call!

We are happy to announce that we are looking for TWO talented people to join our design team!!! If you think you could be one of them, then please show us what you can do! Is your forte' altered items, cards or layouts? We want to see them. Give us some examples of your best work. We would "love" for you to use Nikki's products, but we realize Nikki's still new to the industry - not every one is carrying her products yet. However, after CHA in January they will not be able to resist adding her products to their stores!

Ok, on with the show. Here is what we would like from you: a list of publications, design teams you are on or have been on and some examples of your work. Don't worry. We are looking for talent and for people we feel fit in with Nikki's products. You do not need to be published or on a design team.

We also realize this is the holiday season. Life can get a little hectic. Then there might be some of you hurrying to get projects done for CHA as well. Keeping that in mind, we are giving you until January 25th to get your submission to us. We will be announcing our two new design team members on January 31st. This will be a short term, as we are filling up two vacant spots. Your term will be from February to May, which is a four month term. This is when the current team's term ends as well. In May we will be posting a new call.

Send your submissions to nikkisivilsDTcall@yahoo.com with"Willie-Bee's DT Call" in the subject line!

Here is a link to Nikki's website. Please look around http://www.nikkisivils.com/ Also, if you have more questions, you can refer to Nikki's very first call

Here's wishing you the best and good luck!

Happy Holidays to you and your family,

So much to share...

Hi there,

My name is Nadhrah and today is my turn to blog. Can you all believed it that Christmas is next week? Phew... Where has the time gone! I'm sure there is still so much to do.

I'm all excited to share my new projects that might give you some inspirations to make some last minute gifts for your love ones. If not, you can still use it for some other events such as birthdays or Valentines day perhaps.

I have created my latest project using North Pole Nights Collection & U R My Favourite Collection. Frankly i fall in love with all the fun colors inside this 2 collections. It just make me happy and i couldn't stop creating. It is very inspiring.

I will start with my Christmas layout and mini albums....

Sitting on Santa Lap

North Pole Nights Mini Album

Last but not least, i would like share a simple tutorial on a piece of altered art. I found a piece of Princess Door Sign. When i look at it...in my heart was saying ...this is perfect to use together with the U R My Favourite Collection! And yes it blends well...

Step 1:
I sand the door sign and apply 2 coating of mod podge.

Step 2:
Apply at least 3 coating of acrylic color

Step 3:
For the Princess words....after the paint has dry up, i apply another layer of mod podge and sprinkle glitter. Let it dry completely.

Step 4:
Decorate as desired by using U R My Favourite Collection....i cut most of my cut out by using Making Memories Slice Machine.

I hope you like the idea.

Till then everyone...Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!
