Welcome Kim Jackson, our Guest Diva for April

My name is Kim Jackson, and I'm a 30-something writer, editor, and papercrafter living in Midvale, Utah. I live in a just-the-right-size townhouse with my boyfriend, Chris. We bought it in 2007, and immediately started remodeling. Yikes! Until recently, I was a senior editor at Creating Keepsakes magazine, and have had scrapbook layouts and other projects published frequently in its pages since 2010. You'll also find my cards in a few special issues of Paper Crafts magazine, Cards magazine, and Embellish online magazine. In addition to papercrafting, I love to sew and knit. There's something so satisfying about working with your hands on something creative--especially if you're making something for someone else. I'm so happy to be this month's Guest Diva!

Kim has lots of projects so let's get started looking at them and see what she has to say about them!  Kim used the Noah and Audrey collections to create with.

Using the Noah Collection

On the 12x12 layout, I cut stars from the cute little boy paper, then covered them with Ranger Crackle medium.

You can see the detail on the stars in this shot.

For the ornament, you can find instructions for the cute star here: http://studioofmae.blogspot.com/2011/12/christmas-freebies-part-3-mini-paper.html. I would totally attach this to a present for my nephew.

And a fun card!

Using the Audrey Collection.

On the mini album, I inked the edges of each album page with tea dye to give it a slightly vintage vibe.

And a fun 2 page 8.5 by 11 layout!

Thanks Kim for being our Guest Diva for the month of April!  We are in love with all the great projects you did for us and our readers!!

Be sure to check back this week for more inspiration and ideas from our design team!

Gorgeous creations from Deana Boston!

Hi everyone!

I am sharing Deana's creations today on the blog! She seriously amazes me with everything she creates! I just LOVE her work!!

"I love the Exit Here collection!  We travel quite a bit, so this collection is getting a lot of use!  While I did not have to travel outside of the US & use my Passport for this particular trip to Summer CHA 2010... I do think it's one of the cutest cut-outs I've seen & thought it was the perfect size for a mini book cover.  I used scrap pieces of cardboard, cut to size, as the base of each page before adhering my paper & photos.  Then a simple book ring to hold it all together!" ~~Deana

"I used the cute Noah collection to make my card, along with some of my new Maraschino twine from The Twinery and some Want 2 Scrap bling for my tires." ~~Deana

"I made this page using Audrey.  Love the "musical notes" paper & thought it was perfect for a concert page.  Also love that rainbow striped paper & decided to cut a smaller section on the diagonal to add a little more interest behind the main block of my page.  I used Pink Sorbet twine from The Twinery on here and adhered it using Beacon's 3-in-1 Craft Glue.  Love that it dries clear + quick!" ~~Deana

*swoon* Deana is just amazing!! Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Three beautiful cards from Jennie McGarvey!

Hi everyone!

DT Diva Jennie is on the blog today sharing three beautiful cards with us! The first one is with the Exit Here collection and the last two are with the Noah collection

"I had a friend that I needed to send a little pick me up card to and I knew that the pretty colors and floral design in the papers would be perfect for a feminine, cheerful card." ~~Jennie

"I'm a sucker for cards and the colors in the Noah line, so I knew that using these elements would be perfect for a congratulations card!  I made this one for job well done but I think it could also be PERFECT for a brand new baby!" ~~Jennie

"I know a lot of people find it difficult to make masculine birthday cards.  I think Noah is the perfect answer for that because it can be for someone who is 4 or 44.  The colors are playful and cheerful but are not childish!  Adding a little kraft colored cardstock made a bit more subdued and adding the truck made the card more playful!" ~~Jennie

I just LOVE all of Jennie's cards!! GORGEOUS!! Thanks so much for stopping by today!

A fun mini album tutorial from Jodi Wilton!

Hi everyone! I am super excited today to share Jodi's projects! Today she is sharing with us how she made a denim pocket mini album (so can't wait to try this myself!) and an adorable layout and a card too!! All using the Noah collection!

"Today I am going to be showing you a few projects that I made with the NOAHcollection.  First off, I want to share with the mini album that I made:

Here are some simple and easy steps to help you recreate this mini:
1.      I started by using Victoria’s street Chipboard Album:

I spray painted the edges of the album in a cream/white paint. Then I cut off the chimney part of the album to make it look more like a pocket

2.        Next I covered the chipboard with paper from the NOAH collection, sanded the edges, and then inked them.  I also cut a pair of my son’s jeans that had holes in them and used both back pockets.  Be sure to cut carefully around them, to leave the pocket in tacked.

3.       To create the FRONT COVER, adhere the Jean pocket with FABRI-TAC by Beacons.  This glue is fantastic to adhere anything to fabric! I used this for all of my embellishments on the front.  I also used a Basically Bare Chipboard heart, and misted it with red mist.

4.        For the inside pages, I used a variety of the Closet Cut-up and Punch out’s from the NOAH collection.  Here is a look at my inside pages:

 5.        The Back Cover was made the same way as the front cover by using Beacon Fabri-Tac Adhesive.

6.        I decided to make a mini within a mini by creating a cute little mini to fit inside of the back pocket of the album: I used the “Here Comes Trouble” from the Closet Cut-ups as the main page, and added more of my favorite photos of my son! A great way to maximize your album with as many photos as you can get! Here is my mini-mini album:

My next project I wanted to share was again inspired by the whole POCKET theme! I created a layout of my son and his love for worms:

And finally, I also made a fun card with this collection! Who could resist the cute little pick-up truck?" ~~Jodi

Isn't Jodi's projects amazing!! I just love them all!!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Day Two of the PSA Essentials Blog Swap!

We are back with Day Two of the PSA Essentials swap with one of our cross promotional partners the next two days.  PSA Essentials is a unique stamp company in the industry.

So check out our blog and then head over to the PSA Essentials blog and see what their designers did with Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker products!  You want to comment on both blogs...hint hint...see below!

First up is Deana Boston.  This girl rocks cards and this is no exception!  She used the Noah collection for this adorable baby congratulations card!

Diva Jodi Wilton created an adorable little Happy Easter tag using Audrey!  I am loving that google eye!

And I (Katrina) decided to try a little wall hanging with the Audrey collection. Might be a good thing for a sister to leave a message for her brother to "STAY OUT"!  I painted the scalloped chipboard with some Martha Stewart Chalkboard paint.  I did three coats, but I really think it needs more if you decide to try it.  Also, you have to condition the paint with chalk.  You will want to use the white chalk to do this.

And here is Jennie McGarvey with an adorable pinwheel card with the Audrey collection!  I love pinwheels!

I was inspired by the stamps to create a cute baby/welcome baby/congrats on your baby card.  I knew I wanted to use this stamp and a pinwheel -- and the rest just came together. What I discovered after I made the card is that this is definitely not exclusive to babies!  You could give this to a girl who got a role in a play, a spot in a choir or a position on a sports team!

And last, but certainly not least, is Diva Marielle LeBlanc with a fun gift bag idea for Mother's Day.  This is adorable made out of Audrey....and how cute would a guy's bag out of Noah be for Father's Day?!

We here at Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker would love to thank PSA Essentials for allowing us to play with the fun stamp goodies they sent us!  I think the girls have had fun with them.

Want to know what the "hint" was about?

Here on the Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker blog we are giving away a collection kit each day of this two day blog swap!  Your choice out of the four new collections!

Just leave a comment here on the blog and over on PSA Essentials blog each day and you are entered!  Simple, quick and easy, right?!

We will announce the winners of the collection kits here on the blog on Tuesday April 10th, so that gives you plenty of time to enter!
