summer celebration

Jill, here, from the Willie Bee Diva House Design Team, enjoying the hot summer dayz in Manitoba and anticipating the beautiful harvest that is quickly approaching.

I strongly believe that you should always make time for celebrating -- birthdays, anniversaries, new born babies, and the list could go on endlessly. REALLY....... I could celebrate almost anything for no particular reason.

So........ I decided to create 2 different projects for this post that celebrate 2 different events of summer celebration.

The first project is a mini fabric album created to celebrate a wonderful Sunday afternoon spent with family -- using the 6x6 mini pads: Blueberry Hill & My Friend Birdie. I also used a few stickers on the cover and some journalling stickers throughout the pages of the album. Here's a little peek:

LOVE the little chipboard journalling tag (owl) on the back page of the album. I inked it with (pink) dye ink and then whitewashed some paint onto it. A bracket and some journalling complete the album.

The second project is a party invitation created from a pocket (actually it's the packaging from some of nikki's sticker collection). I've mixed a few different lines on this invitation (new & older): Blueberry Hill, My Friend Birdie & Bella's Cutie Cut-Ups.

Using the chipboard tree shape (from the chipboard albums), I snipped off the "trunk" to create the end of a balloon. With some paper from the My Friend Birdie mini pad, a few stickers, a stamp, some doodles & journalling, I set the balloon sailing with some ribbon -- it's tied to the bottom of the balloon and then taped inside the pocket.
I created a 3D flowers and attached it to the pocket with these corduroy brads -- they rock!!!! love ALL the colours!!!! Also used my pinking shear scissors around these fabulous labels.

Hope you find a little bit of end-of-summer inspiration here today.

enjoy,
jill

Home Sweet Home

There is something oh so comforting about the perfect home. You know what I'm talking about right? A sanctuary filled with the things you love, the colors that inspire you and the memories you cherish. Somewhere that you can call your own and be yourself all the time.

So many of us have that haven within our homes known as the "craft space". A place that gives us security, inspiration and sometimes if we are lucky, a little bit of peace and quiet.

Hey there everyone, I'm Erika Taylor and I'm one of the new Doghouse Divas here at Nikki Sivils. Every time I say that, I smile ear to ear and start singing "Who Let the Dogs Out" woof woof woof woof...*doin the hand pump* Yup, I'm a little bit crazy, I'm Canadian and that is just part and parcel up here.

Over the next while, I hope to share with you, a little about me and what makes me tick.

Today I've got a few cards to share with you using the Bella Blue and Oscar Too collection as well as the My Sweet Cherry Pie Collection. I absolutely love the color palette in both of these and I so wish that the Cherry Overload paper came in fabric and wallpaper. That would certainly bring cheer to my crafty space.

Without further adieu, here are my cards

I did a little "renovating" to the super cute house on the Cutie Cut-Up papers. Adding some shakes on the roof and a few curtains too. The entire card pops with the help of Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots and Zapdots.

You will see that I'm a huge fan of fussy cutting and bling. Every one has their happy place hehe. I added the Canvas buttons to the flowers to give them a little personality.

Love that Houndstooth paper. Such a beautiful combination of the perfect browns and those cherries are so sweet. I distressed the edges of the circles and added a bit of ink to the mix. In my stash of ribbon {one of my crafty addictions thanks to Really Reasonable Ribbon} I found the perfect gingham matches for the card plus some super sweet double ruffle ribbon too.

Happiness is indeed Homemade and I'm feeling right at home here. Thank you so much for stopping by today and making my first post on the Nikki Sivils Blog a real treat. Take a moment and stop on by my blog too. Until next time

Toodles

OWL always have fun creating with Nikki Sivils' products...

I was in the mood to make something silly recently. I'm not sure that an owl with big pink kissy lips was initially on my mind, but that was my result! My daughter's friend told me it looked more like a cat with those lips, but humor me & go along with the fact that it's SUPPOSED to be an OWL!

Want to see how I made it?

I started with my OWL mini chipboard album...... and painted it white...

I used a circle punch on my Bella, Bella paper & punches out the flowers to begin making my "feathers" (or... it could be a dress... you decide!)

I flipped up the edges of each circle to add texture...

... and then added some Burlap Buttons for the eyes, some pink lips & some more pink for the ears. Although the pink lip "cut-ups" from the Will He B The 1 line is more commonly used for love-themed pages, there's versatility in everything!

I hope you've been inpsired to create something new, in a not-so-obvious way!
OWL be back next month!
Hugs...

Christine's Card Challenge

Cards, to me, are like little mini scrapbooks. They all have titles, paper, images and embellishments. I use the same design principles as those that I use for scrapbooking. Rule of thirds, odd number of embellishments, focal point, keeping a triangular design, etc. I wonder if you can point out some of the design principles that I used while making these cards.

I "heart" U
Supplies: U R My Favorite 6x6 Mini Paper Pad, Cutie Cut-ups

Thank You
Supplies: Willow's Bee 6x6 Mini Paper pad, Buzzin Around paper; Bee's Cute Cut-Ups; Brown Burlap Buttons

Hi

Supplies used: Bella's House, Bella's Graph from Bella Blue and Oscar Too 6x6 paper pad; Bella's Cutie cut-Ups; Burlap Buttons in Blue; Pockets of Treats Sticker Sheet

You might notice that I created my cards using unusual sizes. With making handmade envelopes easier these days, creating cards in different sizes is fun and doable.

Here is a challenge to you.
Make a card using Nikki Sivils products in a size that is NOT 4 1/4 x 5 1/2. Stop by my blog and leave a link in the comments section to your card and I will randomly pick a winner to receive a fun prize. Deadline for this challenge is Monday, July 12th at 8:00p.m. est.

Sharing my latest projects & a little Heidi Swapp...

Hi there! It's Nathalie hosting today and I hope to brighten your Monday a bit by sharing with you a few new projects I created with Nikki's papers. I have actually been busy playing with 3 different collections this month!

It is almost the end of the school year (no, I can not believe that either!) so I got ready by making these bright and fun tags for my teachers' gifts (you could follow the same designs to make bookmarks). I love the look of the bright colors contrasting with the black:

This was my first time playing with Bella Blue and Oscar Too and I discovered how versatile it really is! I am also a big fan of the Pockets of Stickers where I found the pink scallop border, the heart and the little flower over the i. I hope your LSS carries them!

I created this little ornament by recycling the packaging of a pack of brads. I placed a photo and paper from the 6X6 Mini Pad inside the packaging and then added the scallop stickers all around on the outside. I then embellished with other paper elements from the same collection. It is hard to see on my photo but it has a lot of dimension!

Last but not least, I made this very feminine birthday card using Ellie's Day Out collection, some Ellie's Cutie cut-ups and a breadless tab to embellish:

That's it for now! I have a couple more things in the works but that will have to wait. I hope that I have given you some ideas that make you want to go and scrap something!
Have a great week!

Hey there everyone... Nikki here! I'm just popping in to let you know... Heidi Swapp is having a sponsor appreciation day and that would be us here at Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker! Leave a comment and the winner will be randomly chosen. Check out Heidi's awesome blog for more details!!

A Little Road Trippin' and a Mini Album

Hi everyone! It's Katrina here with another post. Hope everyone is enjoying all the mojofiric projects you find here on Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker!!! The design team is just overflowing with lots of good stuff to get that mojo moving!

And don't forget to leave our guest designers some love. They are all AMAZING!!! And we are so excited that they get to play along with us also. And how lucky, I get to have a day on the blog next to them!

Alright on with the my projects. The first one is from the "Will He B the 1" collection. Now, this is a date themed line, but remember you can use themed papers for other things also! Here is a layout I did, without a date theme, but a Road Trip theme! And notice...no title??? Well, I decided the journaling said it all and it didn't need a title! (and hey, at least those movie tickets aren't speeding tickets!!!!)

And next I have a mini album that I made for Nikki to take to a trade show last month. This album came together so quickly. It is made from the Bella Blue and Oscar Too collection and the House Chipboard mini album. I just made a collage of a few of the pages...but look really close...see those pull out tags??? WELLLLL, I made those with Nikki's "Pocket of Stickers" sleeves!!! I just covered them with some paper, painted the edges, and viola...a nice little pocket to include in a mini album! How fun is that?!

And if there is an additional piece for the roof, those all fold up to reveal journaling underneath. This was super fun to do! There are more pics of all the pages on my blog. The link is to the right!!

That's it for me this time. I have been super busy with work, but so glad that I could share my projects with you! Hugs!

Have a Scrappy Kinda Day!!~~~Katrina

A little Willow, a Little Bella, and a little Butterfly.

Hey Everyone!!!

It's Katrina with my first blog posting here on Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker!!! I am so excited to be a part of this team...so filled with inspiration and talent. I admire everyone's talent on the team....it sometimes sends me into overload!!!

Well, here is my first creation...it's a clipboard I punched a couple of holes with my CropaDile, altered with the Willow Bee Collection and created a place to put some fun ideas when they pop in my head!

See that "pocket" to place ideas in? Well, Miss Nikki has these wonderful "Pockets of Stickers" that she debuted at CHA this January. I just trimmed it down and then lined some paper inside to make it pretty!!! So, just IMAGINE what you can do with these!!! I have another little something up my sleeve (or pocket, should I say!) with these that isn't quite finished yet, but you will see it the next time I blog here! A tease, I am!

Next up, one of my FAVORITE lines from this time around....Bella Blue and Oscar Too! We took the dogs to a local park to get some pictures (for me to scrap of course!) and I thought this picture was a great one to use with this paper line!
And see that doghouse with the Craft Flag? Well, I used the stamp set from Bella Blue and Oscar Too, to stamp the "in the doghouse" and the flowers on the flag. Nikki's stamp sets are so easy to color in!!! You should try them...and they are also great to emboss!
And last up, but certainly not least, is a layout and wall hanging using the Flaming Butterfly Collection. This is certainly not "normal" looking paper, but it's "OH SO FUN" paper!!!!
The wall hanging is created with one of the Scalloped Square chipboard albums and I die cut letters out of the Flaming Butterfly papers also. And don't forget...the 6x6 Mini Pads fit PERFECTLY on the chipboard albums that Nikki has! No more wasting your 12 x 12 sheets to get the right size of paper to cover your chipboard! If your store carries the 12 x 12 paper and not the mini pads, ask them to get them in! They are so fun to use and they are the same pattern as the full sheets, just scaled down. Super perfect for cards!

And here is my final goodie...a layout with Flaming Butterfly. And yes.....sometimes it does take me FIVE times to get a good picture. But hey, I turned it into a scrapbooking layout!!!!

And a little reminder: I am the Local Design Team leader for Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker and this is the first chance I have gotten to post this on here!! We are having a LOCAL design team call!!! That's right Springfield area scrappers...we are looking for you!!!! We are going to be the TOWNHOUSE DIVAS!!! You can read all about the call on my blog: Paper, Scissors and Glue. This link will take you right to the call. If you have any questions, please use the email in the call and we will get back with you. This is going to be so fun for the ladies that make the local team. So make sure and check out all the info!!!!!

Ok, I think I have rambled on enough!!!!!

Have a Scrappy Kinda Day!!~~Katrina

MABUHAY FROM MANILA!!!!

Hello everyone!!! This is Janis, blogging from Manila, Philippines!!!! I'm sooo excited to make my first post here at Nikki Sivils Scrapbooker - - so much that I have six projects to share with you today!

My first layout used Bella Blue and Oscar Too (the name is as cute as the papers, don't you agree?). I made this layout for All About Me for Challenge13: My Personality. I figured the papers suit my girly girl side. ;o) (For details and close ups of this layout, you may visit my blog here.)

On the other hand, these two projects were part of my Nikki Sivils handmade giveaways in the previous blog crawl (I had sooo much fun, I am definitely looking forward to the next one!!!). The wall hanging used the Willow Bee line, while the mask used Butterfly Rest paper from the Flaming Butterfly collection. (For details and close-ups of these projects, see here.)

I also made 3 new layouts to debut today (well, I worried you may already have seen the 3 above, I don't want you to yawn and get sleepy at my post!!!! LOL) featuring my kiddos, Nat and Phil. You'd see more of them in my works over here at Nikki Sivils!!!!

Using Willow Bee
Using Bella Blue and Oscar Too

Using Flaming Butterfly

I hope I inspired you to bring out your Nikki Sivils Scrapbooker stash and play with them! The papers are absolutely cute and yummy, I can't wait to create more! Till next time!

Have fun creating,
janis
