Friends and Kindred Spirits

Everytime I look at this sweet little bird, I think about a childrens show called Peep and the Big Wide World. My children and I watch it here and there, and it always makes me smile.

Hi Everyone, Erika Taylor here today with a few cards to share using the Tree Love and My Friend Birdie collections. I absolutely love how these two collections mix together. The color palette of each one of the collections are so stinkin versatile and the images, BEYOND SWEET!!!!

For this first "Friends" card, I've added a little stickles love to various parts of the card to give a little sparkle. Many of you know I'm part magpie, so this is to be expected hehe. I also cut a few different elements out of the Birdie Cut Ups and paired it with cardstock stickers from the collection, to really give some great dimension in the sentiment. Whatcha think?

Next a card using both the Tree Love and My Friend Birdie Collections together. I love that little hint of blue. Goes perfectly with those cute Blue Burlap Buttons don't ya think? The trees in the Tree Love line are truly magical. I love the whimsy they all have and figured what better statement for a beaver to make to the forest than "Kindred Spirits"

Thanks so much for stopping by the blog today. What is your favorite part about fall?

Happy Labor Day

Happy Labor Day everyone.

I love those first few days of September. The children are back in school and they are sharing some of the cutest things. Our son is in Grade 1 this year and he is so excited about learning to read. He has his very own desk now and a locker too, a sign that he is growing up. It happens quickly doesn't it?

Hi Everyone, Erika Taylor here today to share with you a bunch of Nikki Sivils goodness that I've created over that past little while. These new collections are just so sweet and I'm loving the colors.

First I have a few cards to share using the Blueberry Hill collection

I so love those little leaves. I bent the largest leaf around a large paintbrush handle to give it some dimension. I used a little Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots to really add that extra level to it. The flower is made from the suns on the Blueberry Cut-Up paper.

Next another Blueberry Hill Card.

Love how juicy those little blueberries turned out after adding a little gloss to them. And those Canvas Buttons.... SWOON. These are the sweetest little buttons out there and they go perfects with jute string and ribbon. A real country fair feel to this one.

Now lets take a little trip down Tree Love lane.

The little teeth on Bucky the Beaver are perfect for the toothy grin on our daughter lol

For the card, I added some red stickles to the tree to make those little apples pop. I so love the color palette in Tree Love.

And finally some Boo-tiful for ya. I'm a HUGE halloween fan and this paper is super dooper fun to work with. I love the whimsy of it and the fun designs. I made the ribbon out of a strip of the Boo-tiful Cutie cut up paper.
Last by not least, my favorite Halloween card to date. There is something a little spooky about the jack-o-lanterns in the Boo-tiful Cutie Cut up paper. I LOVE THEM!!!!

Hope you enjoyed stopping by today and checking out my work. I love sharing it with you and would love to see your newest Nikki Sivils creations too. Leave a link for me to check them out in the comment section.

Until next time

Home Sweet Home

There is something oh so comforting about the perfect home. You know what I'm talking about right? A sanctuary filled with the things you love, the colors that inspire you and the memories you cherish. Somewhere that you can call your own and be yourself all the time.

So many of us have that haven within our homes known as the "craft space". A place that gives us security, inspiration and sometimes if we are lucky, a little bit of peace and quiet.

Hey there everyone, I'm Erika Taylor and I'm one of the new Doghouse Divas here at Nikki Sivils. Every time I say that, I smile ear to ear and start singing "Who Let the Dogs Out" woof woof woof woof...*doin the hand pump* Yup, I'm a little bit crazy, I'm Canadian and that is just part and parcel up here.

Over the next while, I hope to share with you, a little about me and what makes me tick.

Today I've got a few cards to share with you using the Bella Blue and Oscar Too collection as well as the My Sweet Cherry Pie Collection. I absolutely love the color palette in both of these and I so wish that the Cherry Overload paper came in fabric and wallpaper. That would certainly bring cheer to my crafty space.

Without further adieu, here are my cards

I did a little "renovating" to the super cute house on the Cutie Cut-Up papers. Adding some shakes on the roof and a few curtains too. The entire card pops with the help of Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots and Zapdots.

You will see that I'm a huge fan of fussy cutting and bling. Every one has their happy place hehe. I added the Canvas buttons to the flowers to give them a little personality.

Love that Houndstooth paper. Such a beautiful combination of the perfect browns and those cherries are so sweet. I distressed the edges of the circles and added a bit of ink to the mix. In my stash of ribbon {one of my crafty addictions thanks to Really Reasonable Ribbon} I found the perfect gingham matches for the card plus some super sweet double ruffle ribbon too.

Happiness is indeed Homemade and I'm feeling right at home here. Thank you so much for stopping by today and making my first post on the Nikki Sivils Blog a real treat. Take a moment and stop on by my blog too. Until next time
