Please Welcome our April Guest Deisgner Jennifer Yates

We are so pleased to have Jennifer as our guest designer this month. You are going to absolutely love her work. We have asked Jennifer to share a little about herself and here is what she had to say:

Hello my name is Jennifer Yates, and I live the the Dallas/Ft. Worth area of Texas. I have been married to my husband Mark for 14 years, and we have two wonderful kids, who I stay at home with, Mason, 6 and Maren who is almost 3.

Coming from a graphic design background, I have always loved creating, but discovered the joy of scrapbooking after the birth of our son in 2004. I have been fortunate enough to have been published in Scrapbook Trends Magazine and served on other design teams over the years, in which I have met so many wonderful and talented ladies!!! I am also grateful to teach classes at Anthologies which is a LSS here in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area.

When I am not scrapbooking I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, photography, reading and watching mindless TV!!!

I am so honored and thrilled to be chosen to guest design for Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker this month! Thank you for having me!!!

Now here is some of Jennifer's fabulous work!!

Thank you Jennifer for designing for us this month! Your projects are so stinking cute!!

Here is the Design Team's April Challenge!

Before I get to our challenge from this month, let me say how happy we were to have so many of our fans play along!! We had a great response for our very first challenge. We have absolutely the best fans ever! It was hard to choose a winner, but seeing that we promised one lucky person a pack of Nikki's paper - we had to pick someone! Our lucky winner is.....Monique. If you can email Nikki at nikkisivils.com with your name and address, and let her know you were the March challenge winner. That would be great. Congrats!

Our April challenge was an easy one! We asked the girls to make a card - any way - any kind. It was totally up to them as to what they came up with for the challenge. That will be what we want you to do - make a card any way you want! Again, we will announce the winner at the start of next month's challenge.

Well, if you are curious.... I won't keep you in suspense any longer. Here are the cards our fabulous design team made for the challenge.

Sharing my latest projects & a little Heidi Swapp...

Hi there! It's Nathalie hosting today and I hope to brighten your Monday a bit by sharing with you a few new projects I created with Nikki's papers. I have actually been busy playing with 3 different collections this month!

It is almost the end of the school year (no, I can not believe that either!) so I got ready by making these bright and fun tags for my teachers' gifts (you could follow the same designs to make bookmarks). I love the look of the bright colors contrasting with the black:

This was my first time playing with Bella Blue and Oscar Too and I discovered how versatile it really is! I am also a big fan of the Pockets of Stickers where I found the pink scallop border, the heart and the little flower over the i. I hope your LSS carries them!

I created this little ornament by recycling the packaging of a pack of brads. I placed a photo and paper from the 6X6 Mini Pad inside the packaging and then added the scallop stickers all around on the outside. I then embellished with other paper elements from the same collection. It is hard to see on my photo but it has a lot of dimension!

Last but not least, I made this very feminine birthday card using Ellie's Day Out collection, some Ellie's Cutie cut-ups and a breadless tab to embellish:

That's it for now! I have a couple more things in the works but that will have to wait. I hope that I have given you some ideas that make you want to go and scrap something!
Have a great week!

Hey there everyone... Nikki here! I'm just popping in to let you know... Heidi Swapp is having a sponsor appreciation day and that would be us here at Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker! Leave a comment and the winner will be randomly chosen. Check out Heidi's awesome blog for more details!!

So Fun! Will He B the 1!

Hi all! It is Mimi Leinbach your blog hostess of the day. I have a few Will He B the 1 projects to share that I made with my Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker goodies. As it is with all Nikki's lines my favorite is always the one I am working on and Will He B the 1 is no exception to that.

With Earth Day this week I felt the need to do a little recycling. I also dug into my "stuff" to actually use some of those thing I bought and never used.

This layout is of one of my BFF's sipping on a yummy frap from Starbucks. We are hopelessly addicted to them and it is always a fun treat. I recycled a cup cozy from one of my trips there and used it as a base for my photo. This definitly adds a little something "extra" to my layout and lots of texture for sure.

Nikki outdid herself with this adorable treat glass. I added some liquid pearls to the whipped cream and topped it off with some cut glass and white glitter...looks delish...but I would not want to drink it, lol!

I picked up this cute little mail slot at the dollar store forever ago and never did anything with it. I decided to dress it up a little and now I keep it at my computer desk with notes, post its, and other odds and end I reach for.

I punched out the white scalloped circle, added a hand cut heart and made a few flowers...so much cuter than when it is naked. Don't you think?

Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you are as inspired by Will He B the 1 as I was!

Layout girl

Hey all, Mieke here..... I want to show you some layouts that I made last week, creating with three different lines of Nikki Sivils. They are so cute, so different from eachother.

I must say I'm a real layout kinda girl, with or without sketches. This is what scrapbooking is all about, according to me. Tell stories on paper, leave memories for my family.

This photo is so dear to me. My kids were so cute and they haven't shared a bottle of fristie in a long long time!

This paper is so right for the photo. Will he B the 1, so sweet, love the colors!

I adore the burlap buttons!

My second layout is a family layout. Almost two years ago our American family came over to Holland. It was so good to see them again. Our kids didn't speak English and the cousins didn't speak Dutch but they got along just fine. Especially the girls. They adore each other.

They spent a day at our vacation cabin up north and we met them one day at our home.

We went out for lunch at one of our favorite places in our town and we had so much fun.
Willow Bee had to be the paper when I saw this photo at my FAL's.

This line is so sunny, full of summer. The flowers matched so wonderful.

I used the package of the burlap buttons as an embellishment.

And the last one I want to share with you is special to me.

The moment I saw this paperline I knew I had to do something with my love for music.
This record has been on my wall in my scraproom for years, it means so much for me.
I still remember getting this one for my 9th birthday. So cool. I was in love with Olivia Newton-John since Grease, she was my idol.

On this photo she's got a whole different look!
I know I will never use the record again so this is perfect to capture my memories.
Here's Dan the Record Man.

The orange brad was a white one, sprayed it with Glimmer Mist to get the matching color.

I hope you enjoyed these layouts. I had a lot of fun to use these lines and cut a lot from the die-cut sheets.

You know, if you have some Nikki Sivils layouts, cards or altered items to share, sent them to Julie. Check out the website for more information, some video's and to see all the lines available.

I wish you a fabulous weekend, here it will be very sunny!!

See you next month,
