Bella's update...

Well, as you all can see she is feeling a little bit better! She is out of the playpen now and has free range of the house again, however she is meaner that ever!! Starting fights with sweet Savannah and Alfred. (Mostly Alfred!!) Dan and I have both been bit in the process as well. If she was a large animal we'd have to put her down, really she has become that hateful. Our vet says she's just still not feeling well and is letting the other dogs know to leave her alone. So last week I found this t-shirt and had to get it for her...it says "I tried to be sweet but I got Bored"! Well that pretty much says it all. She now has an infection and we are treating it with antibiotics, so she still can't do her Pet Therapy visit. Hopefully next month. Thanks for all your prayers and e-mails. -Love Nikki and Bella

Bella's update.....

Well, we have Bella home; however she is still a very sick girl! We have to keep her down so she has to be in a crate or playpen all day and night. (Unless we are holding her.) So because no one would want to be confined to a small crate all day we put her in a child's playpen and she seem to be fine with it. But when we put her in her crate, that by the way she's had since puppy-hood and was fine with it before, is now hating it. And I mean HATING IT!!! So the playpen it is! Bella is on a strict diet with very little water and a 3 medicines that she has to take every 30 minutes before she eats her food twice a day. We have to start giving her medicine a hour and a half before meal time. We'll be doing this for several weeks, but we don't care as long as we have her with us!! Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers!

It's been a rough start to 2009!

Well the pictures should say it all...our little Bella is one sick girl!! Our vet thinks it's her pancreas, but we are still waiting for those test results to come back from the lab. Bella was at the vet hospital all day Wednesday and we were able to bring her home last night but it was just for the night, they wanted her back at the hospital at 7:45 the next morning. Then our night took a turn and Bella started to look really bad and not responsive to our voices so we took her the ER night vet hospital. She had to stay the night there and then go straight to our vet the next morning. So now we are just waiting, and waiting and waiting, to see if she'll keep her fluids down today! If she does then we get to take her home tonight but she'll have to go back again in the morning for more IV fluids. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers. -Nikki
